Mas de Valériole
Mas de Valériole is located within an outstanding territory: the Camargue Regional Nature Park in Provence. Founded in 1426, Mas de Valériole bears the name of it’s founder, Doctor François de Vallériole from Arles. Today Valériole is the Michel family story, settling here in the late 1950’s three generations now work the land together, growing rice, sunflower, wheat and cultivating wine. Reconstruction of the vineyard resulted in the selection of varieties based on their aromatic potential as they relate to the very specific terroir of Camargue. These include Merlot, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Caladoc, Marselan, Chardonnay and Vermentino. Committed to organic farming since 2006, the passion for preserving nature resulted in growing a vineyard in full respect for the environment.
Camargue, Provence
Situated on the Rhone Delta between the city of Arles and The Mediterranean Sea, The Camargue Region itself was designated a Uniseco World Heritage Site in 1986. It’s marshy fields are dotted with black bulls, white horses, pink flamingos and vineyards. The fertile alluvial soil is made up of rough mineral sands, clay and gravel rich in organic matter, brought in over the centuries from the wind and the sea. The combination of Mediterranean influences and delta soil qualities lend an original character to the wines of the region.
